Dog Sitting Maggie - Geek Turned Athlete

Dog Sitting Maggie

Meet Maggie.  She is the cutest little angel!!!  She is a Labrador Rhodesian ridgeback mix.  We are dog sitting her for a few days, and she is full of energy!!  I doubt that she is allowed on the couch at home, but she has been taking up a third to a half of our couch.  We can’t say no!  Even though Steve acts like a tough guy, he is such a push over!   He took her out for a 3.7 mile run yesterday, and she promptly passed out right after they got home!  Maggie really makes us want to get a dog, but we don’t have a backyard, and we are planning on traveling a lot more next year since it will be our last year in Europe.  We want two weimaraners really bad!  DSC02702DSC02705

Steve made breaky this morning.  It was really good, but for some reason I wasn’t very hungry.  I only ate about half…DSC02694

I worked on some computer stuff this morning, and then I got a sinus headache.  I took about a two hour nap after I popped a couple Aleve.  It still isn’t gone!!!  I woke up and really wasn’t hungry, but I knew that I needed to eat something.  I toasted some whole wheat bread, spread some hummus on both sides, and added tomato, cucumber, and some sliced turkey.  I found a mango that I had forgotten about in the fridge and ate that on the side.  I forgot how good mangos were!  Yum!DSC02700

For the remainder of the afternoon, I worked on Bazaar stuff and studied for my group fitness instructor test.  I know, boring!!  I was supposed to go on a bike ride today with a friend of mine this morning, but she called to cancel.  I know this sounds bad, but I was happy that she canceled!  I am sore from my race yesterday.  To be more specific, it is very hard for me to get up and down my stairs without groaning and yelping.  🙂  I also finished my tentative workout schedule for the next few weeks!  Here it is!

Another quick note about workout schedules:  I think that they are very important if you want to stay on track with your training.  I also think that it is a good idea to plan them with your real life schedule in mind.  The last couple of weeks of the schedule, I’m doing different stuff because I won’t be near a gym.  No biggy, but I just needed to accommodate my workout schedule to that!

For dinner, I made Lemon Oregano Chicken and Vegetable Stacks (zucchini, yellow squash, and carrots).  The chicken was perfect, and I LOVE how the lemon also helps tenderize the chicken!  I am still nursing my glass of Pinot Blanc.  It is really good!!  Although I would love to take credit for this recipe, I got it off the Food Network site, and I have not changed a thing on it!  Click here for the recipe! Maggie is soo beautiful! We are thinking about getting another Wiem too! And naming in Cambell. Haha can you tell my Husband is obessed with the FSU! Doak and Cambell (name of the staduim for those that don’t know).

I love running with Doak. It’s a little too hot here still for me to take him as far as your husband did and he’s only two so he still acts like a puppy and he is all over the place! But everytime I get out my running shoes he gets so excited. It breaks my heart to leave him on long runs! What a juggling act it will be to try and run with two!

    Dinner looks really yummy too!

Okay I don’t mean to get gross but I’m about to . . . A couple years ago when I just couldn’t get rid of a bad batch of sinus infections a doctor gave me a good home remedy. Put a teaspoon of salt in Dasani water (I don’t remember why Dasani, but he said it had to be that brand), shake it up, plug one nostril and give it a snort, repeat with other nostril, then blow your nose. It will get you nice and cleared up and should help your headache feel better. Anytime I have a sinus headache I do this and feel immediately better.
