I had such a wonderful, humor filled, and chaotic night.
It all started around 12:30pm. We headed out to the metro from our hotel room. I was in my red dress, but the guys wanted to change once we checked in. The check-in was held at Zanzibar’s on the Waterfront. Walking over there from the metro, people in red dresses started showing up. This was no ordinary race. Actually, I kinda felt like I was in Europe with people smoking right before the race. This guy had a cigarette in his left hand. No one was looking to PR here! haha The boys started to feel left out, so they changed enroute.
Once we got into Zanzibar’s, we started drinking. I saw some pretty incredible outfits that happened to be worn mostly by men!
Here is a pic of my Hubby sitting like a lady in his dress:
After we were able to get a few beers down (that was about 2/3 of a beer for me), we all headed outside to start the run. The gentleman in the white heels, by the way, ran the whole way with us! It was incredible considering I can barely make it to the front door in my heels.
I really liked this guy’s outfit, and I asked him if I could take a pic with him. He was thrilled!! This guy was trying to finish his cigar before the run. It was awesome!
We gathered around in a circle and had a costume contest. After that, they discussed run info. There were 3 runs: a 3, 5, and 7 miler. We decided on the 5 miler. The majority of the people were in a hash club. For those of you who don’t know what a hash club is, it is basically a drinking club with a running problem.
Then we were off! The street became flooded with ~ 600 people in red dresses. We were running in front of traffic, but they just stopped and stared in amazement. I’m sure a lot of them were thinking WTF??! haha. It was great. Joe, our friend, stopped to hi five a security guard!
Tourists were stopping and taking tons of pics with WTF on their faces! They kept asking, “What is this for? Are you running for cancer?” No, we weren’t running for cancer. A runner answered, “We are just running for debauchery!” Another answered, “No, we are running for beer!” Yep, that pretty much summed it up! 😉
Steve, trying to be sexy in his dress.
The hashers crashed a wedding in front of the capital building! I don’t think that the bride was happy, but she was a good sport! We ran into a market area. The shoppers and vendors just stared and smiled!
We ran to the stadium where the Nationals play.
We then hit up the S and M club for a beer break! This is when Steve realized that our ID’s fell out of his dress pockets on the run. I started to freak out for about 2 minutes, but gulping my beer down helped with that!
I really don’t want to show you all the pics from this club because they were just downright scary. There is porn playing in the background!
I thought that we were done running at this point, and was really bummed when I found out that we had to run more! I was already drunk! We left this place and ran back to Zanzibar’s. It was about a mile or mile and a half back to Zanzibar’s.
Once we got back inside, I asked someone who we should talk to if someone did happen to pick up our ID’s. He said that someone actually did pick up some ID’s on the course. He directed us towards the guy who had them, and I planted a big kiss on him! We were soooo happy! Hashers are so honest! They all take care of each other!
After that, we hit up the buffet. The food was pretty good, but the pasta could have been a little warmer. The jerk chicken was actually some of the best that I have ever had. I was starving, and scarfed the whole thing down included the beer that I happened to drop a piece of the jerk chicken in halfway through dinner.
We headed home after dinner to take showers and head back out for the After party, but we were exhausted!! We decided to just stay in the hotel, watch football, and order pizza. Steve passed out literally 5 minutes after he was done eating. I had too much beer today, and I am ready to pass out myself! I hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend!! And, if you haven’t run in a Red Dress Run, I highly recommend it!! We are definitely considering joining the Sembach Hash Club because of this event!!
