I know that I’m taking forever to get my wedding pics from a week and a half ago up on the site, but please be patient with me! I’m still waiting for some more pics to trickle in from family members. I have to wait another couple of weeks for my photographers pics to get in as well. I am splitting the weekend up into parts because of that. Part 1 will consist of all the “fun” happenings before the wedding!
Friday night, all the girls decided to go out since Steve was at his bachelor party. We didn’t want to make it a long and crazy night, so we went to Carmel’s in downtown Asheville for dinner and mojitos. I’m in the light purple! We had such a good time!
Carmel’s is known for their blueberry mojitos. I love how the blueberries are JUST blueberries and not some artificial syrup!! It was sooo good!! I think that I had 2 or 3 of these!
For dinner, I had the mussels. Let me just say that I’m NOT a mussels fan, but these are the best that I have ever tasted especially with crusty bread dipped in the buttery broth! I paired this with a salad with mahi tuna on top. I was stuffed by the end of the meal, and oh so content to be surrounded by all of my family and friends!! After we closed the place down, we all headed back to the hotel for a little wine and some more chat…
Which made it very difficult to get to the bridal party and mom’s pedi and mani appt the next morning at 8:30 at the Secret Spa. We were treated with mimosas when we got there! It was so relaxing, and we had the whole spa to ourselves with massages being offered for those waiting to be worked on.
That is one of bridesmaids, Jessica, in the background videotaping.
My sis and maid of honor:
My other bridesmaid, Brooke. I’m sorry Brooke, but this was the only pic that I could find of you!! One of my mother-in-laws in the background in red.
My mom and Jessica We had a great time, but there were errands that needed to be run for the rest of the day before the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We ended up having the rehearsal dinner at a friend’s farm with a pig roast. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pics this yet! I will post some as soon as I get some in!
The next morning, the hairstylist met us at the hotel and started the hard task of 4 updos!
My sister was in charge of straightening out my hair. She is so gorgeous! Can you believe she has two kids?!
Steve’s mom popped in during hair time (mine still wasn’t done at this point ;)) and gave me the bonnet that Steve wore when she took him home from the hospital and when he was christened. It was so sweet! It got stuffed in my dress, and I wore it the whole night! I was not very happy with my hair, and I don’t have any pics of it when it was done. However, it looked nothing like this:
Why can’t hairstylists just do the what is on the picture if I have stated over and over again, that is what I wanted? If she couldn’t do what was in the photo, she could of told me. I would have picked another hairstyle or another hairstylist. She did my hair the first time, and it looked like I had a banana clip in. I was very honest, and asked her to make it look like the pic, so she redid it. It still didn’t look like the pic, but at this point, we were about 30 min late for the pictures and at least it didn’t look like I had a banana clip in. We headed out the Biltmore Inn so I could check into my room, and with the help of a little champagne, I stopped crying because of my hair and dealt with it. When you are a bride, you want to be beautiful on your wedding day, and that is why I was upset. I got over it though with the reassurance from my bridesmaids that I looked great! I knew that I picked my bridesmaids right!!
When we got to the hotel, my wedding planner was waiting, and was very patient! It was just the thing I needed to make me feel better after being late because of my hair! I slipped into my dress with the help of Brooke and my sis in a room full of 2 photographers, 3 moms, and 3 bridesmaids. This was not the time for modesty. We all had to wear leggings under our dresses since the weather had gone from 65 degrees for the high two days before to a high of 40 degrees. Yikes! It was soooo cold! I didn’t want to cover up my dress by wearing a jacket either! Oh the things women do for beauty!
Stay tuned for Part 2!!!
