So, I was having a conversation with one of my good friends who happens to be a physical therapist today, and I mentioned that I was going to try a run outside especially since the sun had come out to play. Before that, I had mentioned that my ankle still hurt a little. She then proceeded to tell me that I shouldn’t be running if it still hurts! Duh! Sometimes, it helps when someone else states the obvious. So, instead, I went upstairs, finally put on my ankle brace (that I should have started wearing last week), and put my swim stuff by the door for another aquajogging session. Sexy, isn’t it?
It has been killing me not to run. I started out optimistic when this whole ankle twisting thing happened, and now I’m getting impatient and grumpy! Okay, enough of that talk for now.
On a good note: I signed up for two races today in addition to the Paris Marathon that I will be completing (if my ankle permits) in April. The Weinstrasse Half Marathon (Wine Street) is the week after Paris. It is supposed to be a great trail run with wine served at the end. Germany has wonderful wine!. And the Shamrock 10 Mile Shuffle that I will be running with the sis (She’s doing the 5K, yay!) when I visit home in NM in March.
On the workout front: I missed my spin class this morning because the hubby finally called. I hadn’t spoken to him in 2 days so it was good to hear his voice for 30 minutes! Totally worth missing spin! After a full day of cleaning, school, and hitting up twitter a few times, I went to yoga class with the fullest intentions to go aquajogging afterwards. I needed yoga for my mind and my tight muscles. It was just what I needed to deal with my running woes (well, besides actually running). Do you like my preggo shirt? Yeah, I look like I’m preggers in it, but I love it ‘cause it is so roomy! I love how yoga works my shoulders which helps me in swimming. This is crows pose. My feet are pointed and completely off the ground, and my knees are resting on my elbows. I could hold that pose for hours. It is definitely one of my favorites!
The yoga teacher ended up starting class 20 minutes late, which left me 20 minutes at the pool to aquajog before it closed. So… I skipped out on that to watch a movie with my PT friend instead. Bad, I know, but at least she looked at my foot in person. She moved it around and determined that it hurt when a lot of pressure was put on it, not when it bent any way without the impact. She was happy that I took today off from running. She said to try out 2-3 miles tomorrow to see how I feel, and definitely NOT to run 16 miles this weekend. Okay, I can take that. I don’t mind aquajogging the difference.
Also, if you have time today, make sure you check out Eating Journey for a post about getting fit, not thin that I helped contribute to!
Tomorrow, I’ve got my trial run (take 2), a 2000-2500 meter swim, and a spin class to teach. Plus meetings and school. It’s going to be a busy one!
What is your favorite pose in yoga?
