So, this week has been unfortunately uneventful in the workout department as of about an hour ago. I have been freaking out in my head about not working out for the past almost 4 days. I don’t know why it bothers me so much when I don’t work out. I just need it as a stress reducer even if I have been “on vacation.”
I still need to worry about school during my time in the states plus make sure that I get in enough quality time with the family before I head back to Germany. For the previous two weeks, I had been pretty good about getting my workouts in including some weight lifting. For some reason, that all fell apart this week… so far.
It was my last day in New Mexico yesterday, and I was sad. I bought a green chile bean burrito at the airport, and relished it as I took every bite, my upper lip and eyebrows sweating. That chile was hot, but so good. It will be a while until I can have good green chile again… or see my family for that matter.
I met up with one of best friends, Brooke, at the Baltimore Airport, and she whisked me off to her house for a great dinner, then to Mom’s Organic Market. It was there that I bought 30 Lara Bars (which I happened to try for the first time yesterday as well, and no, I’m not kidding about the amount), some acai powder, and vegan non soy protein powder. I am excited to try all of those things!
Anyway, this morning I finally got to go on a run. I had planned on a 12 miler, but it seems that I have contracted a nasty stomach virus from my lovely nephew and sister that I was having to deal with on the plane yesterday and this morning. The trails were beautiful. Fort Mead is actually a beautiful post.
The first 5 miles went by so fast. I got lost on the trails that were all along the post (army equivalent to AF base). My legs felt fine, but I felt so tired in my head. It was so amazing to actually move!
Then, my stomach started up, AGAIN! For the 11th time in the past two days, this rumble was familiar. For two miles, I searched for the nearest restroom finally resorting to a community center with a gym in it. After that, I was pretty much wiped out (and dehydrated) so I decided to weight lift instead of going another 5 miles. It all worked out fine in the end. I’m glad that my body was able to go 7 miles plus some weights on this stupid virus. I hope it goes away soon!
For all of my frequent readers, thanks for being patient with my lack of posts lately! My family and friends are very overbearing, and they require me to spend all my time with them while I’m in town! 🙂 In just a few more days, I will be back in Germany, and I’m actually looking forward to getting back into my normal routine of eating, working out, studying, and sleeping!
