Night Before Baumholder Tri - Geek Turned Athlete

Night Before Baumholder Tri

I have my first triathlon of the season tomorrow. It is a 1200 meter swim, 30 mile bike, and ~8.5 mile run.

I was very close to bailing on this thing due to some drama this morning. I was crying because of it, and my husband looked me in the eyes and said, “You are doing this. You are not quitting just because of other people’s problems!”.

I said, “Okay” as he wiped the tears away. Gah, I love my husband.

So, here is almost all of my stuff laid out for tomorrow:

Swim: goggles, wetsuit, small towel for feet (the race is going to supply the cap)

Bike: helmet, gloves, shoes, Larabar, Vega electrolyte drink mix, socks

Run: Same biking shirt w/shorts, shoes, cap, sunglasses, (need to find my clif bloks. They may have been packed. ;( )

I have borrowed a bike, and I worked on changing out my cleats to match the pedals on the bike.

I’ve had a LONG day, and I’m going to try to go to sleep now. Race starts at 11am. Bring it on.

WOW! So inspirational. I love to read stories of heart and drive. We all doubt ourselves, but should trust ourselves instead. Best of luck, enjoy the journey, be proud. Good luck tomorrow~~ 🙂

If you want to have a look at my last post-it’s no where near what you’re about to do, but it’s my story of my 1/2 marathon walk last year. “regret vs appreciation”.

What a great husband! Hope you had a blast at the race! Do you have any posts about getting started in Tri’s or about transitions during the race? I’d love to do one and find your blog very inspiring!

I am sure you knocked this out of the park. I am so proud of you for staying focused and training hard, no matter what.
