Change the Way You Move October: Walking & Clean Bottle Review – Geek Turned Athlete

Change the Way You Move October: Walking & Clean Bottle Review

Hey all!! How’s your week going? Mine has been busy since the in-laws are on their way from Florida to visit this weekend. They are supposed to be here in about 8 hours! Eeeek!

For my new activity to enjoy this week for CTWYM October, I have been walking. Gasp! Silence…

Yes, it is quite odd for me to actually enjoy walking if I’m not on vacation. Actually, the only walking that I usually do is when the hubs and I are traveling like here and here.

Really, the only reason why I would go outside to “workout” would be to run or bike. This triathlete had no interest in walking down her block just for the hell of it or for a workout for that matter.

Kai changed all of that.

We have taken quite a few walks this week to get out some of that puppy energy and to help curb biting. Some walks involve me carrying him down the block when he gets scared, but he is getting braver day by day.

(This is him trying to hide in my big curly hair during one of our walks when he got scared by some 1st graders walking down the street.)

Just as Kai takes in all of his surroundings, I’m starting to do the same.

I’m happy to breathe fresh air and not be running by something so fast that I can’t notice the details of all the beautiful trees

and whatever else is out there.

I know this sounds crazy, but I’m really enjoying slowing down in my workouts for a bit. This is not to say that I don’t miss running (I DO, and you better believe I will be out for a run November 1st! ), but it is nice to just walk. Slow things down. Take everything in. B-R-E-A-T-H-E.

Here is a task for you for this week. After dinner one night if you have time, go for a walk even if it is just for 15 minutes. See how you feel. Go alone (if it is safe) or with a significant other. Talk about each other’s days, etc. Relaxing? Yes! To me, a walk is much more relaxing than watching a 30 minute television show. That’s just me though.

I’ve also been hydrating like crazy especially during and after it took me 2 weeks to get over strep throat!

Clean Bottle sent me this water bottle a few weeks back, and I have to say that I adore it! Although my dishwasher does a great job of cleaning out my regular water bottles when I have just water in them, it doesn’t do a great job when I have some type of sports drink residue inside. Then, it is hard to reach to clean everything in the bottle. This company has fixed all that with a removable top AND bottom.

Why aren’t more bottles like this? It JUST makes sense! The bottle didn’t leak at all, and I was able to clean it thoroughly. I actually put a green monster in there one day, and it cleaned out just fine!

Note: I was sent this water bottle for free to review. You all know how I tell it like it is as if it wasn’t obvious from the last post, and if I didn’t like it I would have said so!

Last, but not in the all bit least, thank you so much for your positive feedback from my last post whether you agreed with me or not. I really appreciated it, and no, I don’t regret posting what I did. I really felt the need to address the influx of negative comments in the blogging world lately. We all need to SUPPORT each other, NOT cut each other down. 😉 My second extremely negative comment received and every single negative comment after that will be promptly deleted. Out of sight, out of mind. I like to surround myself with positivity whether it be online, my friends and family, thoughts, and physical locations.

Do you take walks whether it be to exercise, spend time by yourself or with a loved one, or walk a pet?

How do you go about bringing positivity into your life?

P.S. I’m sorry about all the dog pics. I really can’t help myself!

NO !! don’t stop with the pup photos, and don’t apologize! Kai is ADORABLE… I just want to squeeze! 😀

We go on walks in the evenings – we have a great 2 + mile trail near our property and Basil loves it too! It’s getting dark so early, and we live in a remote area with no street lamps… kinda creepy unfortunately.

Basil and I get our walks in the daytime, though, and his little dachshund legs actually keep up on short runs too!

Kai is a real cute! And I’m jealous of your beautiful fall colors! It rained too much here and the colors are lacking!

The Clean Bottle looks pretty cool…I’ve been looking around for a bottle I can safely put a smoothie or milk based drink into without stressing about the cleaning. I may need to look unto the Clean Bottle! Thanks for the review!

I love your new found ‘love’ of walking! Actually Mr BBB and I used to love our after- dinner ‘walks’ – such a wonderful time to relax and reflect. Now that we more daylight I am looking forward to starting it again :)

I love the puppy pictures (and the fact that first graders are “scary” 😉 )

I used to walk so, so much when I was in school, because my closest class was almost a mile away. I can definitely tell a change in my energy and body since I don’t do that anymore.

Once I convince Dan to get a puppy, I’ll be able to get in dog walks myself. 😉

Oh please! Bring on the puppy pictures. I absolutely love them :) I really enjoy walking Frank. I actually often wish I was allowed to walk him further (hes only allowed to walk ~ .25 miles per day due to his bulldog breathing and joint issues!). What a cool concept for a water bottle- I will be scouting that out.

That is so sad!! At least he is cute to look at!

My Kai will be able to run about 10 miles or more with me once he is full grown. If he doesn’t run a few miles a day when he is an adult, he will chew my couch up completely!!

I missed the comments on your post AND I missed the follow up (whoops!). Sorry about the negative comment you received. :(

I do love your puppy pics!

I agree! Do NOT stop the Kai photos. Watching him grow is just wonderful. And yes, sometimes slowing down and breathing in what surrounds you clears the mind and rejuvenates the spirit. You are a good Weimer Mom too. I’m so looking forward to my trip to Washington DC next week and my 10 day stay there. It’s the home of my heart and I love walking that city. My doctor started me on Mirapex this week and my leg pain is almost completely gone and now I’m dusting off my walking shoes and keeping my fingers crossed that this will fix the problem. And as for negative people…sigh…they are everywhere. I agree with you also – the DELETE key is there for a very, very good reason! Love ya N! Hugs to Hubs and Pup, J & P.

I really love the puppy pics, don’t stop! No apologies needed. :)

I love the concept of Change the Way Your Body Moves. I get so much out of changing up the type of exercising I do not just physically but mentally and spiritually as well.
