Getting all my stuff together for my first half ironman of the season tomorrow…
Since the race ends in a different place than it starts, I have to load my run things in a white trash bag (provided). Since it is a local race, they don’t have “fancy” transition bags.
I don’t think I have an elaborate list of stuff like other triathletes, but here it is:
- 2 pairs of goggles
- swim cap
- timing chip
- Body Glide
- race belt w/ # attached
- bike shoes
- towel to wipe feet
Of course, I plan on leaving the house in my race kit complete with flip flops and my hair ties around my wrist (permanent fixture on my wrists, sexy huh?). Since I have to load up all my swim stuff into the black trash bag for the race peeps to bring to the finish, I want to throw my phone in there without it getting wet so I’ve also included a plastic baggie. All my nutrition is already on the bike, and we are planning on bringing our bike pump to the site.
Also, I have my CO2 pump in my flat tire kit on my bike this time! If you read my last HIM report, you would know what I mean!
My goal for tomorrow: Have Fun. Since I have done one of these things in the past, I know I can finish this one. And.. since my HIM went so terribly bad last year, there is a good chance this one will be much better! haha. Training has been more sporadic that I would have liked the past couple of months, but when you are having family/work issues something has to give, and that has been training. All I want to do tomorrow is have fun. Besides, I always end up doing great when I’m not so concentrated on times.
