Off Season Is Over! - Geek Turned Athlete

Off Season Is Over!

Hey guys! I’m sorry that I’ve been a bad blogger lately! I haven’t really posted about what the last part of what my off season has consisted of.

I was very privileged to be part of the Women’s Self Defense class that my husband’s squadron put on with all of their combat moves that they teach the new students coming through. It was two days, 4 hours each day, and let me tell you, I was SO sore after each day!!!

If you ever have a chance to take a self-defense class, TAKE IT!! I was so thankful that these guys sacrificed their weekend (they did not get paid for this!) to teach about 12 military spouses some basic skills in defending themselves. They even got into body suits, and we literally got to kick the crap out them. I never want to be in a fight, but if I’m attacked, I’m not gonna go down easy!!!

I’ve also been getting in some quality cuddle time with the dogs! Yes, Fay is asleep and snoring on me there! I read a book in that position until she moved about 30 minutes later. 🙂

These are REALLY crappy pics since we just used our phones the whole time! I even got my hair straightened which never happens! We hit a few clubs, bars, salsa danced, and got in some quality friend time. I’m so happy that I was able to share one of my best friend’s birthdays with her!

My friend’s boyfriend found this scene in one of the men’s restrooms. Describes Vegas perfectly! Ha!

Vegas was fun, but it isn’t reality. It was good to get back to reality after a couple of days!

I’ve been running the dogs on VERY icy roads. The roads should be better this week, thank goodness. I hate running in cleats!

Taking pics of my husband cuddling with our dogs. They were both OUT!

My nephew was born last week!!! This is my ONLY pic of him so far. The hubs and I are thinking of going to Albuquerque to see him in April.

I’ve been working a lot, but at least the scenery hasn’t been bad lately!

Triathlon training season officially started Monday, and I’m already sore. I cannot wait. It is going to be a good one!

Any highlights from your off season??

Glad to hear about the self defense classes. One minor question/clarification – you stated in part, “I was so thankful that these guys sacrificed their weekend (they did not get paid for this!) . . .” Weren’t these guys active duty military? If so, they are always on duty.

You may have a point, but these guys didn’t have to put that class together for us. They didn’t have to give up their weekend or their nights planning the class. I feel so proud that my husband works with these guys! 😉
